Trama:When a band of brutal gangsters led by a crooked property developer make a play to take over the city, Master Ip is forced to take a stand.
Honk Kong 1959. La scuola frequentata dal figlio di Ip Man, maestro di arti marziali, è nel mirino di una gang che vuole rilevarne il terreno. Ip raccoglie i suoi discepoli e un guidatore di risciò che conosce il wing chun, Cheung Tin-chi, per fronteggiare i delinquenti e salvaguardare la scuola. Lo scontro porterà a un escalation di violenza, ma Ip Man oltre a questi problemi ne dovrà affrontare anche di familiari, gravi e inaspettati.
Terzo capitolo della saga biografica incentrata sul maestro di wing chun Ip Man: il film di Wilson Yip si mantiene fedele alla struttura e alle tematiche dei due precedenti, mostrandoci sì il lato più crepuscolare del grande maestro, ma offrendoci momenti di grande tecnica e di eccellenti coreografie
