Florence Foster Jenkins, leggendaria ereditiera di New York, persegue ossessivamente il sogno di diventare una grande cantante lirica. Convinta che la sua sia una voce fantastica, Florence ignora che gli altri la reputano terribile. Florence Foster Jenkins, heiress of the legendary New York, obsessively pursues his dream of becoming a great opera singer. Convinced that his is a fantastic voice, Florence ignores that others deem terrible. The husband and manager Clair Bayfield, an English aristocrat, does everything to protect her from the truth but the situation becomes almost unmanageable when the woman decides to hold a concert open to the public at Carnegie Hall in 1944.
