Un intreccio di vicende di ogni tipo caratterizza la vita al Grand Hotel Excelsior. Il proprietario, Taddeus, esigente con la servitù e riservato con i clienti, finirà con lo sposare Ilde Vivaldi, una bellissima ragazza che per farsi ricambiare tenterà anche il suicidio. Tra i clienti c'è anche un pugile in ritiro. Il ragazzo, Pericle Caciotta, si innamora di una cameriera, perderà l'incontro per cui si stava preparando, ma troverà un lavoro "alternativo" alla boxe. Ma nel Grand Hotel Excelsior molte altre storie si intrecciano fino a quando tutti i principali protagonisti si troveranno insieme per festeggiare i 50 anni dell'albergo.
An interweaving of events of all kinds characterizes life at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. The owner, Taddeus, demanding with the servants and reserved with the customers, will end up marrying Ilde Vivaldi, a beautiful girl who will also try to commit suicide. There is also a retired boxer among the customers. The boy, Pericle Caciotta, falls in love with a maid, will lose the meeting for which he was preparing, but will find an "alternative" work to boxing. But in the Grand Hotel Excelsior many other stories are intertwined until all the main protagonists will be together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the hotel.
