Schindler's List - La lista di Schindler (Schindler's List) è un film del 1993 diretto da Steven Spielberg, interpretato da Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley e Ralph Fiennes e dedicato al tema della Shoah.
Ispirata al romanzo La lista di Schindler di Thomas Keneally e basata sulla vera storia di Oskar Schindler, la pellicola permise a Spielberg di raggiungere la definitiva consacrazione tra i grandi registi, ricevendo ben 12 nomination agli Oscar e vincendo 7 statuette, tra cui quelle per il miglior film e la miglior regia. È considerato uno dei migliori film della storia del cinema.
Caratteristica saliente del film è quella di essere stato girato interamente in bianco e nero, fatta eccezione per quattro scene: la prima è la scena iniziale, in cui si vedono due candele spegnersi, così come, simbolicamente, la fiammella di altre due candele riacquista colore verso il termine della storia. La seconda e la terza scena in bianco e nero, dove appare una bambina con un cappotto, solo quest'ultimo colorato di rosso, dapprima durante il rastrellamento del ghetto, poi durante la riesumazione delle vittime. Infine, è interamente a colori la sequenza finale del film, quando, ai giorni nostri, vengono rispettosamente deposti i sassi sulla tomba del vero Oskar Schindler presso il cimitero di Gerusalemme.
Nel 1998 l'American Film Institute l'ha inserito al nono posto della classifica dei migliori cento film statunitensi di tutti i tempi, mentre dieci anni dopo, nella lista aggiornata, è salito all'ottavo posto. Nel 2004 questo film è stato scelto dalla Biblioteca del Congresso degli Stati Uniti per essere preservato nel National Film Registry.
A seguito dell'enorme interesse suscitato, Spielberg utilizzò parte degli incassi per creare la Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, organizzazione no-profit per la collezione audio-video delle testimonianze di circa cinquantaduemila sopravvissuti. Alcune di queste interviste compaiono nei contenuti extra del DVD di Schindler's List.

1939, Cracovia, inizio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Dopo che la Germania ha invaso la Polonia, gli ebrei vengono relegati in un ghetto e sono interdetti da ogni attività commerciale; in questa situazione, Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), un imprenditore tedesco, coglie l'occasione per trarre vantaggio personale e avviare una fabbrica impiegata nella produzione di tegami e pentole con cui rifornire l'esercito tedesco. Sfruttando così le sue capacità relazionali, Schindler intreccia una rete di contatti e ottiene la protezione delle SS, avvalendosi della collaborazione del contabile ebreo Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), che lo aiuterà a trovare i soldi necessari per l'attività, e di un giovane impiegato nel mercato nero, che reperirà per lui gli oggetti con i quali corrompere e ottenere favori.
Schindler coinvolge Stern anche per utilizzarlo come leva di convincimento sugli investitori ebrei, e sarà proprio lui che indicherà gli oltre mille ebrei da impiegare nella Deutsche Emaillewarenfabrik (DEF), salvandoli così dai campi di concentramento.
Quando però arriva in città l'ufficiale delle SS, Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes), con l'incarico di sgombrare il ghetto di Cracovia e di inviare i suoi abitanti nel nuovo campo di concentramento di Kraków-P?aszów, la situazione precipita e Schindler assiste senza poter intervenire allo sfollamento condotto con una violenza e un'efferatezza indicibili; sconvolto dagli avvenimenti, capisce che deve fare qualcosa per salvare i suoi operai. Corrompe e ottiene il favore di Goeth, ottenendo di continuare ad impiegare gli operai ebrei nella fabbrica riconvertita alla produzione di munizioni e granate. Ma ancora una volta la loro vita è in pericolo, perché con l'avanzata delle truppe sovietiche, le SS ricevono l'ordine di cancellare tutte le prove degli orrori commessi, inviando gli ultimi superstiti ad Auschwitz.
In un tentativo disperato, l'imprenditore disloca la fabbrica in Moravia (nella parte est dell'attuale Repubblica Ceca) e compra, uno ad uno, gli operai pagandoli a Goeth, compilando una lista di nomi con Stern (la lista di Schindler). Da questo momento tenterà in ogni modo e fino all'ultimo spicciolo in suo possesso di salvare quante più vite possibile, ottenendo la riconoscenza dei superstiti del popolo ebreo.
