[Millennium è una miniserie televisiva in sei episodi a produzione svedese-danese, andata in onda per la prima volta nel 2010, ispirata alla trilogia di romanzi Millennium di Stieg Larsson.
In Italia è stata trasmessa da LA7 a partire dal 21 settembre 2011.
La serie riprende in realtà i tre film del 2009 Uomini che odiano le donne, La ragazza che giocava con il fuoco, e La regina dei castelli di carta, ognuno diviso in due episodi, con l'aggiunta in totale di circa 110 minuti di scene aggiuntive.
Per la prima volta in Italia l’imperdibile serie tv tratta dalla trilogia Millennium di Stieg Larsson. Il fenomeno letterario dell’ultimo decennio (oltre 8 milioni di copie vendute in tutto il mondo), in versione integrale, con l’astro nascente Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes - Gioco di ombre e presto diretta da Ridley Scott in Prometheus).
L’intrepido giornalista-detective Mikael Blomkvist e la conturbante hacker Lisbeth Salander si alleano per indagare sulla misteriosa scomparsa di una ragazza appartenente a una delle più ricche famiglie della Svezia, ma ben presto si troveranno immersi in una trama di misteri, segreti e cospirazioni che li porteranno a sfidare le più alte sfere del potere.

A tremendous improvement over the original film adaptation

As much as I loved the original film adaptation, and I definitely loved that, the six episode Swedish mini-series contains much more information, much more emotional depth and breadth, and is a much more rewarding experience for the viewer.
Even the addition of long slow closeups of Lisbeth Salander are filled with meaning, emotion, and add greatly to our understanding of her character and her history. Noomi Rapace knocked this one right out of the park. Often, her performance was so strong I found myself actually holding my breath.
With the additional scenes, not footage, by the way, actual intended scenes, we get more of the investigations, and that proves ultimately to be so much more rewarding.
The "Millennium Trilogy" may just end up being my all time favorite adaptation of one of my all time favorite series of novels.
